Our Suppliers, International Dance Shoes, have been working hard to source sustainable, animal free alternatives to the materials to those traditionally used in the production of dance shoes.

Since our “soft” introduction of vegan dance shoes in April 2018 we have had a fantastic response to our animal free products, and now just short of half of our orders are for shoes made in vegan materials.

Historically, dance shoes have always been made with a suede leather sole, and many of our styles have leather uppers.  For now, we have an animal free alternative to our Tan and Black suede soles, and are hoping for vegan alternatives to our Red, Blue and White soles very soon!  When you see a shoe with a leather upper in our vegan section, this will be made with a PU upper as an alternative.

If you see on our website in the title of the shoes “Black” instead of “Black Calf”, this means that this shoe is already made with a synthetic alternative.  For example, our popular Ladies Latin shoe Mia made in silver material is displayed “Mia – Silver”.

Some shoes in our Vegan section may not look exactly as they do in our main collection, a good example of this is the “Katya Heather Split – Art Attack!”.  As we don’t currently have an alternative to the Red and Blue soles in animal free materials, we can only offer this shoe with a black sole.  If this is ever the case with any of our vegan shoes and the shoe you will get will be slightly different to the picture displayed, there will always be a note in bold to say so.

Now for the important bit – all of our Vegan dance shoes are currently classed as “Bespoke”, and are therefore non-returnable and non-refundable, unless there is a fault in manufacture.  We are hoping that as the demand for animal free dance shoes grows, IDS will allow these to be returned and refunded.  But for the time-being, please be absolutely sure of your size and fit before placing your order.  If you need any help with this please see our Sizing & Fittings page.
